Our Managing Partner, Darren Robinson, has been re-elected as President of the British-Luxembourg Society (BLS) for a third term. The announcement was made at the BLS Annual General Meeting (03.03.25), where members celebrated a year of remarkable growth and a diverse array of cultural, educational, and social events.
Robinson’s continued leadership signals a period of stability and continued growth for the BLS, which has seen significant expansion in membership and engagement over the past year. Under his guidance, the society has hosted numerous events, including tours of historical sites, lectures, concerts, and networking opportunities, all aimed at enriching the lives of its members and fostering stronger ties between the UK and Luxembourg.
At the AGM, Robinson expressed his gratitude to the Patrons, Sponsors, Members and Council members of the Society all of whom are volunteers, for their tireless efforts in organising events and courses.
The BLS has also seen significant growth in its social media presence, with almost 4,500 followers on LinkedIn and over 1,500 on Facebook, providing increased visibility for its sponsors.
Launch of the H.R.H. the Grand Duke Jean Award
A major highlight of the AGM was the announcement of the H.R.H. the Grand Duke Jean Award, an educational scholarship programme designed to promote enduring links between the UK and Luxembourg. Michael-James Clifton, Council Member of the British-Luxembourg Society, shared the exciting news, stating: “His Royal Highness the Grand Duke’s approval and consent to name the award to Luxembourg after His father is a singular honour. We hope that the Award in honour and memory of H.R.H. the Grand Duke Jean will maximise the Award’s recognition and strengthen British-Luxembourgish ties long into the future.”
The award, open to UK residents pursuing studies in Luxembourg, has received the approval of H.R.H. the Grand Duke of Luxembourg and will be open for applications this Spring.
Robinson’s re-election underscores his commitment to fostering strong relationships between the UK and Luxembourg. In addition to his role as President of the BLS, Robinson is also the longest-serving Council Member of the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg, further solidifying his position as a key figure in the British-Luxembourg business and cultural landscape.
Anderson Wise, a Founding Member of the Business Club Luxembourg United Kingdom, congratulates Darren on his re-election and looks forward to continuing to support the British-Luxembourg Society in its mission to strengthen ties between the two nations.
